David-Jan Bosschaert


David-Jan Bosschaert


David-Jan Bosschaert is a Belgian-Filipino young professional specialized in transatlantic security co-operation, European Union defense studies and energy policy. He currently works as Attaché at the Belgian Permanent Representation of Belgium to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna, Austria, where he specializes in Third Dimension issues including human rights, gender equality, election monitoring and rule of law. His previous positions include a tenure as Blue Book trainee at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), an internship at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) – a United Nations specialized agency based in London – and teaching projects held at the American University of Kuwait and at Kyunghee University (Seoul, Republic of Korea).


A recent graduate of the Advanced MA in International Relations and Diplomacy studies (College of Europe, Bruges), David-Jan obtained his MA in Law at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KULeuven) majoring in International, European and Public Law. He also holds a BA in Law from KULeuven and a BA in History from the University of Namur, Belgium.


Among his broad range of extra-curricular activities his statute as co-founder of the Flemish Youth Parliament and his long-time engagement with the Belgian Youth Parliament were particularly memorable: the latter resulted in the project being award the Belgian Prince Philippe Fund award in 2012. He also was sent as an envoy to the Parlement Jeunesse de la Communauté française (PJCF) and the Parlement Jeunesse du Québec (PJQ) on behalf of both youth parliaments.


David-Jan also served as Belgian Youth ambassador during the Swiss and Serbian OSCE presidencies, where he was tasked with drafting the new OSCE Youth Action Plan along with his peers. He also headed the Young European Leadership EU delegation to the Y8 summit in London in 2013, where he signed on to the Y8 Communiqué. Among the other policy conferences he attended feature the Atlantic Council Future Leaders’ Summit 2014 (held at the NATO Summit in Wales), the Warsaw Security Forum New Security Leaders’ Program 2016 as well as the GlobSec Young Leaders’ Forum 2016 and 2017.

Having started Model United Nations under the wing of his university team (KULMUN) in 2011, David-Jan went from strength to strength, chairing conferences in Leuven, Poznan, Mostar, Paris, Riga, Karachi, London, York, Durham, Hamburg, Cluj-Napoca and numerous others. During his four-year run as a chair at both OxIMUN and CUIMUN (from 2013 to 2016) he was awarded the inaugural Oxbridge Chairing Award 2015 for his calm and diplomatic chairing style. He also won a Diplomacy Award at Harvard WorldMUN 2014 and was KULMUN’s faculty advisor during their equally successful participation in Harvard WorldMUN 2016. Having chaired at RGMUN 2014 in London, David-Jan is delighted to return to this yearly event in this year’s host city, Beirut.

Lina Shehayeb

Ms. Lina Shehayeb is the Founder and Chair for “Gift of Life Lebanon”, which was set up in 2015.  She is serving as Rotary - President ICC USA- Lebanon from 2014 to 2017, and as President of Rotary Club of Aley, Lebanon in 2013 and 2014.


She is a lifelong humanitarian, businesswoman and entrepreneur. Her involvement in humanitarian work spans 30 years, working mostly with women and children.  She has collaborated with various NGOs, including Gift of Life, St. Jude, My Sister Place, Save The Children, Woman Inc., WFN, ADC, ADS, and more.


Ms. Shehayeb has over thirty years of work experience in sales, marketing and finance, having worked in various parts of the world, including New York City, France, Switzerland, the UK, Turkey, Egypt and Kuwait. Her experience has equipped her with invaluable insights into the world's major markets. 


Throughout her career, Ms Shehayeb held various positions including Product Manager for United Products in New York (1984-2003), Senior Vice President – Investments - in the Institutional International Accounts department of Prudential Financial (1990-2003) where she became the first Lebanese woman to physically be based on Wall Street, and Senior Consultant & Portfolio Manager for York Stockbrokers in New York (2003-2006).  In 2008, she founded a wholesale women’s accessories business based out of New York.


Ms. Shehayeb holds a Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from the Lebanese American University (LAU) in Beirut, Lebanon. She also has a Marketing Certification from Concordia College in New York and a Finance Certification from New York University in New York.  She also has great appreciation for the arts.  She has attended the American Academy of Theatrical Arts, in New York and The New York Academy of Fine Arts, where she studied painting and sculpture under Master Bruno Lucchessi.


Ms. Shehayeb is fluent in English, French, and Arabic, and has working knowledge of Spanish and German.
